At the moment, only downloading files is possible. Actually, I would like to use this portal to invite FamilySearch to do something in the same direction. It should be possible to write something about the origin, history and spread of the clan, the meaning of the family name, etc. It should also be possible to exchange memories within the clan, plan projects, etc.
The originally planned table for translations into other languages is obsolete, as browsers are now quite good at translating. An adjustment to the layout is not currently planned, as I intend to abandon the site at some point.
Pictures must have the format 4 x 3 and be jpg and videos must be mp4, playable with all Internet browsers and on all tablets. It is no longer possible to upload videos directly to YouTube. Users must have their own YouTube channel and then enter the ID here. On the other hand, there are no more restrictions. However, short movies can be uploaded directly. They must be HTML5 compatible and 64 MB maximum. With 720 x 480 px, 25 fps, 2.5 Mbps, this gives about 3 min 40 sec of playtime.
The worksheet Excel2GEDCOM.xlsm works with all Excel versions (2003 to 2023). The current version (2026.1) is dated February 7, see the readme file. With a macro you can update all files automatically, but you have to make some settings first, see the help file. Download Excel2GEDCOM.zip with an easy-to-understand manual.
Upgrade to Ancestral Quest 16 (build 12, new version). Create a new file and import the GEDCOM file. Then use in the menu FamilySearch the commands Login and Link/Upload Individual to compare, link or upload data to FamilySearch. Of course, Legacy, etc. works also.
